Cheese Week

This week has been spent shooting cheeses!
Nothing like taking photos of something that you get to eat after you finish working!

Of course the wine needed to be drank,
the beer needed to be drained,

the cheese consumed.

I have a very attentive audience of both dog and cat.

Winter Window to my World

One of my favorite Christmas ornaments are my glass icicles, I have all kinds of them and this year, when I took down the tree, I decided to keep them out.


With the deep cold we have been having, it is fitting to have them hanging in my kitchen window.

Flowers lift the spirits and add color to a rather grey world.

Black Light on Ice is Nice!

I saw an idea in a magazine and wanted to give it a try.
In the snow, was nestled some rope lights coiled into a tight roll, on top of the snow they surrounded the lights with icicles. It looked like a snow castle glowing in the snow.

Since I couldnt find icicles on the house, I went to the creek , a different look but the idea is the same. We used green lights and placed them in a stump . On top we arranged the clumps of ice from the creek. When the sun started to sink I got the camera out. The first picture shows a lot of purple from the sunset, then it went to black light green.

I was intrigued by the swirls of colors in the ice and the forms with in.

It looks just like it was lit with black lights.

Vasoline ware is a type of antique glass that looks like this when lit with a black light.

Tornado in a Glass

If you keep your eyes open, you might just see a tornado in a glass. No , I wasn't drinking, just stirring some sugar into some fresh iced tea. I happened to place the glass where the light was coming in from the window. Once I saw it, I had to grab my camera.

The first couple of shots I didnt get the spoon out of the glass quick enough.

I changed the angle and changed the settings on the camera.

Pretty soon I found just the right spot.

Today at Shutter Sisters they talk about looking and finding something special.

I found it in a glass with some sugar and iced tea.

For you at home with children, try this, get a glass, put about a tablespoon of sugar in it, add some Monopoly houses and make a tornado with your kids. Of course the light was gone when I came back to do this! For some reason , the tornado effect is better with sugar in the water.

Pretty, Plentiful Peaches

The peaches were patiently waiting, lined up in a row , awaiting their fate. I kept passing them, looking at the them till I finally had time to get the camera.The more I looked the more they abstract they became.

Suddenly they looked like pigs, they just needed little squiggly tails

pumpkins lined up?

The ache of winter

Change is Good!

Change is part of life. While change is often not easy, it is often part of life. We get used to one thing,

Then something changes.

If we are lucky , we emerge on the other side, stronger , better able to handle life.

Then once again, change comes, and you shed your old skin.

Pilgrim's View of the World

Pilgrim loves looking at the birds, of course that means he has to lay on my desk, right in front of the keyboard, which means I get flicked in the face when he gets excited about the birds at the window feeder.
Some times he gets off the desk then peers out the window at the birds, most don't pay him any mind!

My project right now is to learn Lightroom, so of course I picked the hardest picture to work on! With this type of shot there is so much going on , I found it a challenge
The last one took some of the blue out of the pic and brought back some highlights.

Red and Green left from Christmas

After the holidays I am always happy to place the Christmas decorations away , ready for another year.

There is one welcome addition from the Christmas season. Long after I have given the Poinsettas away, the Amarylis remains.

The lovely flowers brighten many dark winter days.

Snow , Sleet , who knows!

Winter weather is always a challenge. Sleety snow covers the heather and the autumn crocus that is late blooming.
