As the day
slips slowly away
shadows deepen

Mountains black
against sunset skies
clouds briefly lit

For the moment
all is bright
then light flees

Early Morning Help!

When you work at home, you need companions to help motivate you.
These companions have totally failed at their jobs.
Looking at them actually has me yawning and tho it is 9:30 am, I am wishing I could nap like them!

Lazy morning
snoozing away
doesnt help me
start the day

Office with a View!

Up to my office , ready to begin another day , I stop to enjoy the view. Not many are lucky enough to have the view I have and each day is different. Enjoying where you are is one of life's many pleasures and my pleasure is plentiful!

Tis the Season for Christmas Lights!

My favorite part of Christmas is the lights. Once Thanksgiving has been tucked away, the light switch is flipped.

A winter wonderland is revealed!

The water garden is even decorated with lights.

We have gone to using a varitey of colors.

I love the way the lights sparkle in the snow!

This is Caroline. I met this young lady with cerebral palsy a few years ago. She and her dog Sajen are quite a pair. I met them when they were training in agility. Sajen was trained by the CCI and the two of them were paired in 2004.

In addition to doing lots of things with Sajen, Caroline uses the computer to create some wonderful images. She just opened her own online store where you can by her cards for Christmas and support the Canine Campanions for Independance

You might just find the perfect Christmas cards and gifts for the season. A portion of every sale goes to CCI, one year she managed to raise over $1,000!

The perfect food, to me, is bread! I have just started doing food photography and find it almost too much fun!

Today's Shoot-Antique Ironstone China

Today I took pictures of antique ironstone china.









Luckily I have a friend that collects it and she was gracious enough to let me do a shoot.

Here is the makers mark, Mason was one of the first companies to manufactor ironstone.

Orginally it was white, many pieces have a distinctive greyish blue color such as the middle pitcher in the next picture.

Transferware is when they began to add patterns to the china. Patterns were drawn on copper plate then transfered to paper then to the china.

Here are five of the colors, blue, black, cranberry, brown and purple.

Here is a nice variety of color and of the types of dishes and plates available.

Different shaped plates were popular.

Self Portrait Challenge!

Today at Shutter Sisters
you are asked to do a self potrait.
The challenge for me was that it is 25 degrees and cold.

I also find after 50, you really dont llook that good looking directly down at the camera, hence my picture!

Suddenly Snow!

Suddenly snow! It comes down quickly then the sun quickly melts it , but it leaves behind
