Martha Stewart's Mushroom/ pumpkins!

The latest Martha Stewart Living cover featured mushrooms made from pumpkins and gourds. I had to try my hand at it. It was easy. Since I used the little pumpkins I needed something small for the stem. I thought carrots were perfect.

The larger mushrooms I used a zucchini that had grown too big.

Then looking at the Turks Cap gourds I realized they already looked like toadstools!

These guys are now almost two weeks old, but they still look pretty good, tho something, I imagine a squirrel or chipmunk has been enjoying eating the stems!

Locavores Eat Best!

Take advantage of the locally grown fruits and vegetables at your local farmers market.

You help support local agriculture and you get the benefits of produce that is the freshest available.

The time is now with all the late veggies coming on the market

For me it is a feast for both eyes and my taste buds.

Get out and buy local

Today's Trick

Today I needed to get a picture of a dog catching a ball by the door. I set up the lights and Molly trotted in.

Considering my throwing skills are slight, and add that I was trying to take the picture while throwing with my left hand, it took a few shots to get the pic.
Molly got bonked in the head with a bad throw, plenty of throws were way off and there were some missed balls.

Bingo, mission accomplished.

Cockapoo Puppies Attack Jack!!

Molly figured out how to unzip her travel crate at a shoot yesterday. Luckily the bugger came to the puppy house where we were shooting, and waited to be let in. She leapt up on the sofa and the fun began.
What the heck is this thing?

Smells like us, but sure looks different.

We had better do some more sniffing while it is being submissive.

EEEEKKK, look at the size of those teeth!

Oh oh , it is getting up now.

Hey, quit hitting us with your butt.

I'll hold her head while you try to get away.

My, what BIG teeth you have!

I needed pics of a dog carrying a basket and Molly was willing.
I love the way we captured her feet all off the ground

Then I felt she was saying
hey stupid, here is the dumb basket you wanted.

Oops

Now it is mine

Is this want you wanted me to do, I even smiled for the camera!

Zoom,Zoom,Zoom!

I needed some pictures of a dog learning the trick Go Through with an agility tunnel.
Out came the treats and Molly got to work. I don't think she views it as work since she has a big canine grin on her face.

It helped it was dinner time !

If we humans could only be so joyful!

Along Came the Bear

I was photographing pumpkins yesterday when the owner looked up and saw this bear.

He was quite a distance from us but I managed to get some shots of him.
He was trying to get out of the field.
If I pull the wire down I might be able to squeeze through.

Maybe I can climb it.

I'll try another spot.

Maybe I will just run.

Fried Twinkies at the County Fair

For years I have heard about fried Twinkies. Now Twinkies are something I might eat every other year when on the road traveling, but I had never tried this culinary delight.

Here is the booth that made the fried Twinkies, my friend Ali ordered the fried Snickers and here they are being dropped into the fat.

Here is my Twinkie being dipped in a batter that is similar to funnel cakes. The Twinkies are frozen first then dipped and then fried.

The end products. Actually they were quite good, but I did prefer the Twinkie !

Some of us opted for ice cream but then we passed the Amish donut place. We heard others talking about these so just couldnt resist. They were great but I wish it had been at 7 in the am with a cup of coffee.

Last stop was for lemonade. Jeff couldnt go home without it, and while one stand was already closed, he persisted till he found this one open!
